Anna B. Bellas

Anna Bellas (Benyak), age 98, of McKeesport, passed away on December 16, 2020. She was born on September 5, 1922 and is the wife of the late John Bellas who passed away in 1959 and the late Stanley Pigora who passed away in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Katherine (Rosko) Benyak and was preceded in death by her siblings, Steven Benyak, John (Olive) Benyak, Joseph Benyak, and Mary “Mamie” (Lawrence) Latta. She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Mark) Lewis of Palm Coast, FL and Diane (Gary) Fleishman of Monroeville; grandchildren, Katelyn (Brandon) Allison of Oakmont, Marla Lewis (Sean Skaggs) of Anaheim, CA, and Eric (Loah) Lewis of Arlington,VA; and, great-grandson, Brett Allison. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lida Benyak, sister-in-law, Terry Bellas, brother-in-law, Frank Bellas, and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was a member of the Slovak Gymnastic Union 46 Sokol Lodge in McKeesport, where she met her husband, John. She served with the Military Intelligence Division of the United States Department of War from 1944-1945 and spent her career as an Executive Secretary for Precise Metals and Plastics. Anna was a member of LHAS McKeesport Hospital Ladies’ Hospital Auxiliary, the Golden Key Club of McKeesport Hospital, and Life Span. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Eugene Church of St. Mark Parish. She was an active member of the Liberty Seniors and White Oak Seniors and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, music, and shopping. She was very spiritual and charitable. She especially loved spending time with family, and she enjoyed going on family vacations to the beach and hosting large family holiday gatherings.
A family gathering with services is scheduled at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Burial will follow at St. Nicholas (Byzantine) Cemetery.
