Carmela DiLucente, age 93, of Glassport, PA, formerly of Rankin, PA, and Sant'Angelo del Pesco, Italy, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. She was born in Sant'Angelo del Pesco, Italy, on September 14, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Pasquale DiNinno and Dalia Fantini.
Carmela is survived by her children, Patty DiLucente (George Jr.) Shaw of Derry Township, PA; and Linda DiLucente, also of Glassport, PA; grandchildren, Joe DiLucente of Pittsburgh, PA; Dominick DiLucente, of Brentwood, PA; George Shaw, III, of Derry Township, PA; and Taylor Shaw of Copenhagen, Denmark; a great-grandchild, Scarlett DiLucente; and daughter-in-law, Donna Dilucente of West Mifflin, PA.
In addition to her parents, Carmela is preceded in death by her beloved son and husband, Nicholas DiLucente; and Joseph "Peppino" DiLucente.
"Nonna" was a passionate and loving person who put family before everything else. She relished the opportunity to tell stories from the old country; many of those stories are the most entertaining ones we share regularly with family and friends. She was a very proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Still, Carmela was a 'tough cookie' who would tell you how she felt and had your back no matter the situation. Like many Italians, she demonstrated her love of cooking for those around her, leaving an impressive legacy with her sauce, pasta, and biscotti recipes. Her warmth shined through in all situations, and she was memorable to all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Carmela’s memory on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Noon in the funeral home chapel. An entombment will follow.
