Frances E. Fichtner, age 96, of White Oak, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. She was born in Keystone, West Virginia on March 5, 1926 and is the daughter of the late Frank Staskus and Kasimiria Eizonas Staskus. She is the wife of the late William Kerston and the late Dr. James L. Fichtner.
Frances was employed at J.C. Penneys and Harpers Bazzar. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, the White Oak American Auxiliary Legion, where she was the Sunshine Lady, and a loyal, supportive, and active member of Unit #701 up until her diagnosis a few months ago. She also belonged to White Oak AARP #2294, and White Oak Legion A.L.P.S – Seniors.
Frances is survived by her step-son, James (the late Barbara) Fichtner, of Jeannette, PA; step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Mace, Helen Santora, and Juanita Slovinsky; brothers, Joseph Staskus, John Staskus, and Charles Statkus; step-daughter, Linda Richardson, and fiancé, Elmer Virag.
Arrangements were handled by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).
