Frederick G. Donahoe, Jr., age 73, of White Oak, formerly of North Versailles, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was born on March 29, 1949 and is the son of the late Frederick G. Donahoe, Sr. and Mary (Dupin) Donahoe; and proceeded in death by his brother, Chet Cole of Orlando, FL.
He served in the United States Navy. He graduated with his associate’s degree in biological sciences at CCAC. After his years of service, he was employed as a hearing instrument specialist for over 40 years. He was a little league coach at the White Oak Athletic Association and St. Angela Athletics. In addition, he was an adult softball coach for the Donahoe’s Derby Lounge, Croatian Club in Versailles Borough, Victory Lane Auto Service, and Pittsburgh East Metro Women’s softball League. He was the president of the Steel Valley Softball league for 24 years. Fred was also a member of the White Oak American Legion, General Smedley D. Butler Post 701. He enjoyed telling jokes, creating family trees, playing board games with family, making his famous Irish mead, wine, and thanksgiving pies. He was very passionate for his family traditions, spending family time, and for the game of softball.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosemarie Yanez Donahoe; children, Adrianne Donahoe of Madeira Beach, FL; Loree (Donahoe) Scharritter (Christopher); Erin (Kari) Donahoe of Wilkins Township; Casey (Tara) Donahoe of McKeesport; grandchildren, Coree (Kristina) Scharritter, Colin Scharritter, and Chance Scharritter; brothers, James (Barb) Donahoe of Saltsburg, PA; Gary (Karen) Donahoe of Rockton, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Avenue, White Oak, PA 15131. Burial will follow.
