George Edward Brown Sr., age 89, of Duquesne, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was born in Johns Island, South Carolina on February 19, 1931 and is the son of the late Joseph B. and Anna Givens and the husband of the late Christine Younger Brown. He served in the Army during the Korean War then worked at US Steel Duquesne Works until he retired. George was the minister at Gospel of Jesus Church for many years. He enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to music, and talking with friends and neighbors. Mostly, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, George Edward Brown Jr. of Duquesne; granddaughters, Katherine, Jazmin, Britney, Patrisha, Morgan, Qiuana Brown, Tiffany Bussie and Cassandra Taylor; grandsons, Toi and Corey Brown, Kenny Cottingham and Eugene Patterson; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Samuel “Jack” (Jackie) Givens of Elizabeth Twp.; in additional to his parents and spouse, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Savoy Brown; siblings, Lucille Ross, Eugene Brown, Joseph Givens Jr., Helen Scott, Beatrice Murphy, and Juanita Hampton.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, at the Gospel of Jesus Church, 202 S 3rd St, Duquesne, PA 15110, Pastor Eddie McCorvey, officiating.
Burial will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements are being cared for by Hunter Edmundson Striffler Funeral Home of McKeesport, 600 Market St., McKeesport, PA 15132 (412 678 6191).
