George Louis Trombola, age 89, of Conneaut Lake, formerly of McKeesport and Irwin, died on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on May 21, 1934 and is the son of the late George and Elizabeth Hando Trombola. George received his bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania and retired from Westinghouse Electric as a production supervisor, where he was employed for over 35 years. He had been a member of the former Transfiguration of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport, currently a member of Our Lady, Queen of the Americas Parish and the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club, both in Conneaut Lake.
George was a builder. In addition to his long engineering career, he built, by hand, a lake house, docks, intricate wooden birds, animals and totem poles -- and he could fix absolutely anything. It should come as no surprise, then, that he built up the people around him too. George's expectations for himself and for others were innately high, particularly for those he cared about. Such was the strength of his belief that we could all be better than we were yesterday. Yet he treated people with respect, and deep, wholehearted generosity. He was the type of man who would literally give you the shirt off of his back, and insist you keep it. That's just who he was. And every one of us who knew him is a better person for it.
George is survived by his wife, Jayne Yerkey Trombola; children, Daniel (Tammy) Trombola of Cranberry Twp., PA; Monica (James) Johnson of Rose Valley, PA; Michele (James) Rogan of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Lindze (Keith) Hoover; Nicholas Trombola; Daniel Trombola; Brittany (Brandon) Buschmeier; Andrew (Julie) Johnson; Chelsea Johnson; Nathan (Shannon) Johnson; Katelyn (Matthew) Frerichs; Abigail (fiancée, Luke Andrews) Rogan; Hannah Rogan; and great grandchildren, Evie Buschmeier; George Buschmeier; and Jack Frerichs.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Josephine Trombola; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” and William Kiska; and Angie and John Ondrik.
