Gerald Regis Hinerman, Sr., age 87, of McKeesport, PA, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born June 2, 1937, in Duquesne, PA, and is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Reichenbach Hinerman.
Everyone knew him by his signature red jacket and sayings like “Watch your top knot” and “Yahtahey.” His life was hunting and fishing. He was a mountain man like Jeremiah Johnson. Gerald cherished his time in his fishing boat at French Creek, where he “felt like he was 17 years old again”.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Rosalie Morini Hinerman of McKeesport, PA; daughter, MaryJo (Scott) Dirle of McKeesport, PA; sons, Gerald (Kim) Regis Hinerman, Jr. of West Newton, PA; and James Edmund Hinerman of McKeesport, PA; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph; David; and Edward Hinerman; and sister, Patricia Capizzo.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler's of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, 310 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA, 15132. Burial will follow.
