Helen L. Kocis, age 73, of Pooler, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 14, 2020. She was born in Pittsburgh on August 7, 1946. She is the daughter of the late Martin and Catharine Lazor Bucek.
Helen obtained her master’s degree as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She was devoted to helping others. Helen retired from Marlow Elementary School after 20+ years of service. She volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) caring and helping families within her community. She also was actively involved volunteering for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, William Kocis; loving children; Lindsay Kocis, and David (Lesly) Kocis of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters, Carol (Earle) Hotta of Wailuku, Hawaii, Catharine (Bob) Guerriero of Pittsburgh, Mary Ann (Larry) Vash of West Mifflin, Dolly (David) Geeting of Pittsburgh, Margy Greiner of Springfield, Virginia, and Sharon (Frank) Louis of Jeromesville, Ohio; brothers, George (Barbara) Bucek of Butler, Paul Bucek of Moriarity, New Mexico and James (Valerie) Bucek of Cranberry Township; she is preceded in death by her brother, Martin Bucek.
The family will gather for services on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Burial will follow.
