Jacob A. Plake, 57, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of West Mifflin, PA died Monday, May 18, 2020. He was born on December 26, 1962 in West Mifflin and was a former member and a dependable altar server at Holy Trinity Church in West Mifflin. He attended Duquesne Catholic Grade School, West Mifflin High School and the Pennsylvania State University. He received a B.S. in Accounting and worked as an accountant his entire business career.
He was the youngest son of the late John B. Plake, Sr. and the late Jane M. Plake, and was one of twelve children. Loved by many siblings Jackie (Ray) Colbert, Janet (Jack) Weaver, Judy Pasternak, Jim (Carol) Plake, Jerry (Sean) Plake, Debbie Plake, Jeffrey Plake, Joey Plake, Jason (Becky) Plake, Joyce (Tom) Carey and Janey (Paul) Cherkes. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother John Plake, Jr.
Jacob was a fun and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews; Julie Plake (Drew) McMinn, Joanie Plake, Jim Plake, Jr., the late Jennifer (Plake) Ferris, Jon Plake, Jamie Weaver, Robert (Lisa) Weaver, Justin Pasternak, Jessica Pasternak, Jeremy Pasternak, Ryan Carey, Janel (Nick) Rielly, Caitlin Carey, Katie Cherkes, Michael Cherkes, Jack Cherkes, Jordyn Plake, and great nieces and nephews, Morgan Ferris, Aubrianna Kimbrew, Josey McMinn, Alley McMinn, Colton Cook and Liam Rielly.
Jacob enjoyed playing and watching all sports and especially his hometown Pirates and Steelers. He will be remembered by many for his strength, courage, determination, loyalty to his faith and his friendly personality.
A family gathering was held Friday, May 22, 2020 at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Holy Trinity Church in West Mifflin and officiated by Father Nicholas Mastrangelo. Burial followed at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial, in celebration of Jacob's life, will be offered at a later date. The family has requested donations or a mass in Jacob’s memory be made to Holy Trinity Church, 529 Grant Ave., Extension, West Mifflin, PA 15122.
