James H. Burns, age 70 of White Oak, died peacefully at home, on November 20, 2020. He was born in McKeesport on February 8, 1950 and is the son of the late Harry and Mary Pepe Burns. He is a member of Mary, Mother of God Church. He was a lifetime member of the YMCA, and a board member of the McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. He spent his career helping others at Mon Yough Community Services for 25 plus years. After retirement, Jim enjoyed staying fit, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was an avid McKeesport Tigers and Pittsburgh Sports Fan, especially the Pitt Panthers. Jim was a proud graduate of McKeesport Area High School Class of 1968, he received his undergraduate degree at Graceland University in Des Moines, Iowa and furthered his education by receiving his master’s degree in Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lee Neyman Burns, daughters; Abbey Burns of McKeesport and Kerri Burns of Dravosburg, his mother-in-law, Carol Dalton Neyman of Dravosburg, brothers-in-law, Dale (the late Kathy) McCall of N. Huntingdon, Wayne (Twila) Neyman of Dravosburg, Leroy (Claudette) Neyman of Elizabeth, and sister-in-law Lori (Jace) Younge of Elizabeth, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Burns.
A gathering will be held at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, (412-678-6177) on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Corpus Christi Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery. The family appreciates all social distancing guidelines be followed at the funeral home.
