James Dimitroff, age 92, of Glassport, died on Monday, June 13, 2022. He was born in Glassport on February 4, 1930 and is the son of the late Fidan and Stefka Monrovia Dimitroff. He served in the United States Navy Reserve during the Korean War and was employed as a bread truck driver in his early years. He later retired in 1983 from the strand department of Copperweld in Glassport. He enjoyed woodworking, which included making cabinets in his spare time, and loved to play golf and cards with his family. Most of all, he loved being with his wife of 70 years, and his family. He was an all-around good guy. He'll also be missed by the family dog, Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Link Dimitroff; children, James (Kim) Dimitroff of Bridgeville, DE; Leslie (Scott) Gray of North Huntingdon; Carol (Joe) Giannandrea of Glassport; Elaine Prise of North Versailles; Diane (Rob Horne) Hawkins of Sebring, FL; William (Ann) Dimitroff of Wexford; grandchildren, Daniel (Charity) Prise; Erica Prise; Gregory (Jessica) Dimitroff; Jennifer Prise; Joseph Giannandrea; Cara Giannandrea; Jodi (Dave) Giannandrea; Julia Giannandrea; Michelle Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Lilly; Lucas; Benjamin; sisters, Louise (James) Bonner of Elizabeth; Stephanie (Paul) Bowers of Milford, IL; Nancy (Paul) Smith of Myersville, MD.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his grandson, James David Hawkins; and siblings, Cyril Dimitroff; John Dimitroff; and Barbara Dimitroff.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). The family and friends will meet at church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Noon at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, Queen of the Rosary Church, 530 Michigan Avenue, Glassport, PA 15045. Burial will follow.
