James Michael Martin Sr.

James Michael “Micky” Martin, Sr., age 88, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of McKeesport, PA, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born in McKeesport, PA on September 4, 1934 and is the son of the late Thomas Victor and Catherine Skiffington Martin, and the husband of the late Marian Laskey Martin. Micky was a member of the former St. Pius Church in McKeesport, PA, where he served as an altar boy. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating, and having a glass of wine. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Micky is survived by his children, James Michael Martin, Jr; David Martin; Kelly Ruiz; and grandchildren, Caitlin; and Isabella. In addition to his parents and wife, Micky was preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Martin; Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Tubbs; and Patricia “Patsy” Christianson. Micky will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors in Winter Haven, FL who referred to him as “CAPT. Jim”. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, 150 East Side Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601, with a burial to follow.
