John T. “Jack” Walsh, Jr., age 100, of McKeesport, PA, died on March 19, 2024. He was born in McKeesport on June 17, 1923, and is the son of the late John T. and Henrietta Clay Walsh.
Jack was a lifelong resident of McKeesport. He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1940. He volunteered for the Army from 1943 to 1946, and was stationed in England and Germany during the years he served. In 1949 he graduated from Duquesne University, with a degree in Business Administration. Jack was employed by G.C. Murphy Company as a manager in various stores as well as the real estate division. He was a member of the Youghiogheny Country Club, McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center, the Wise Walker’s from Renzie Park, a parishioner of Mary, Mother of God in White Oak, PA, and served as an usher for many, many years. Jack enjoyed golf and tennis, and was a huge fan of Arnold Palmer (Arnie’s Army). He truly enjoyed the Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall.
Jack is survived by his children, Linda (Gerry) Cavalier of Huntington, NY; Joanne Grace, of McKeesport; John T. (Diana) Walsh, III of Syosett, NY; grandchildren, Brad Cavalier; Andy Cavalier; Ryan Walsh; Jennifer (Jared) Macchirole; Jacquelyn Grace; Natalie (Michael) Bole; Megan Grace; and great grandchildren, Tyler Judd Cavalier; Violet Isabel Cavalier; Noah Barton; Kalli Barton; Blake Barton; Camron Grace; Roman Bole; Isaac Bole; Dakota Bole; and Luca Macchirole.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Jamison Walsh; siblings, Edna (Joe) Matta; Jean Walsh Claar; Harry C. Walsh; Jerry Walsh Berger; and grandson Judd Cavalier, who died September 11, at the World Trade Center.
Family will gather on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Entombment will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Mausoleum.
Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN, 38105 in honor of Jack.
