Jon E. Zalac, age 73, of White Oak, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on September 9, 1948 and is the son of the late John and Eugenia Kellar Zalac. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, and the Republic of the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of St. Angela Merici Church, the Two Rivers Amateur Radio Club, Inc., White Oak American Legion Post #701, where he was a member for 39 years, the NRA, the Marienville Rod and Gun Club, and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He attended CCAC and the University of Pittsburgh. He retired as an electrical technician after 36 years from the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Dull Zalac; son John Zalac of White Oak; and brother, Gary (Denise) Zalac of White Oak.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Mary, Mother of Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak, PA and burial followed. Arrangements were handled by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177).
