Linda Martinez Gentili, age 75, of North Huntingdon, died on Monday, June 5, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on December 27, 1947 and is the daughter of the late John and Guadalupe “Lupe” Quezada Martinez. Linda received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Carlow University with honors and was employed as vice president, corporate consumer credit manager for Mellon Bank. She was later employed as the vice president and marketing manager of Citizens Bank. Upon her retirement, she and her husband, Peter, bought the JMJ Bookstore in Bethel Park.
She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church and a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in McKeesport. She taught high school CCD and was a member of the Finance Council at St. Angela for ten years.
She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Europe, including Ascoli Piceno, Italy, where her husband’s family is from, and family vacations to Myrtle Beach, Disney World, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Mexico, and Canada. Her parents and grandparents were of Mexican descent from Mexico City and Guadalajara. She would visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe to whom she had a strong devotion. During her visits to Italy, she loved to visit St. Peter’s Basilica, Our Lady of Loreto Church, St. Rita of Cascia Church, St. Francis of Assisi, and various other holy sites. She was very well loved and respected by many of the Pittsburgh Diocesan priests and deacons whom she served as the manager of institutional church products sales at JMJ Bookstore. She did this with dedication and devotion to her faith.
She is survived by her loving husband, Peter Gentili whom she married on September 5, 1992 in the Carlow University Chapel; sister, Dolores “Lola” (the late Emory) Dobos of White Oak; nephew, John Dobos of White Oak; niece, Cristina Dobos of White Oak; and brother-in-law, George Schlicht.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Martinez Schlicht. Linda’s family and friends were gifts of God to her, but most of all, her faith was the centerpiece of her life and everything she did.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Avenue, White Oak, PA 15131. Entombment will follow.
