Marcia Ann Marko, age 70, of White Oak, died peacefully and surrounded by family on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on April 30, 1953, and is the daughter of the late Dan Verdish (who died on July 21, 2023) and Virginia Ciolak Verdish (who died on February 18, 2015). She retired from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, where she worked for over 20 years. Marcia often volunteered at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville and Mary of Nazareth Catholic School in White Oak. She really enjoyed playing pickleball, arts and crafts, the beach, visiting Disney World and spending time with her grandchildren.
Marcia’s good humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Her positive outlook on life was infectious and made those around her strive to be better. Marcia ended every conversation with “Have a magical day”.
Marcia is survived by her daughters, Heather (Christopher) Rutherford and Holly Nicholson; siblings, Diane Verdish, Paula Verdish, and Cindy (Gil) Riazzi; grandchildren, Nina Nicholson, Mia Rutherford, Noah Nicholson, and Gianna Rutherford; nieces and nephews, Jessica Levans, Shelby (Connor) Schade, Nathan Riazzi, Taylor Riazzi, Judah Levans and Mackenzie Schade, and her Chihuahua, Tinkerbelle. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Jordan T. Riazzi, who died on December 27, 1997.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow.
