In June of 1966 she began her secular career as a Business teacher at South Allegheny High School until her retirement in 1989.  The students often referred to her as “Aunt Millie” due to the fact many of her nieces and nephews were attending South Allegheny at that time.  She prepared many young women to enter the business world ensuring they achieved the highest of standards in grammar, typing, and shorthand. Millie married Joseph Mongelluzzo on July 17, 1971 and lived in West Mifflin.  They shared a wonderful life together.  In November of 2016, Millie suffered a broken hip and was unable to live on her own.  Following care in both the hospital and rehab facilities, she resided at Paramount where she was aided by her stepson Paul and his wife Barbara.  Many thanks to them for their devotion to Millie. In addition to her stepson Paul (Barbara) Mongelluzzo, Millie is also survived by stepchildren Joseph, Jean and step-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews:  Connie Terek Shaw, Tom Ogurchak, Paula Hrehocik Roche, Christine Hrehocik Culbert, Michael Hrehocik, Jane Hrehocik Clampett, Mark Hrehocik, Marsha Hrehocik Uziel, Elaine Valencik Demarco, Ronald Valencik, Jeannine Valencik Urbanski, and Linda Valencik Dzialowsk.  She was preceded in death by a nephew and two nieces: Patricia Hrehocik, Mary Terek Hocko and Bill Ogurchak.  Among her many accomplishments, Millie received her Master’s in Education from Catholic University of America and was featured in LIFE magazine in the early 1960’s bowling on “Nuns’ Day” at a North Hills bowling alley. On January 19, 2018, Millie departed this world with Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Parish in West Mifflin followed by internment at St. Joseph Cemetery in North Versailles joining her beloved husband Joe. “Millie was one of a kind.” Announcement by Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (412-678-6177).
